Lam Research v. Applied Materials
Corr Cronin represents an employee of Applied Materials against a misappropriation of trade secrets claim brought by his former employer, Lam Research. Lam alleged that the employee would inevitably disclose its trade secrets regarding a tool used in manufacturing semiconductor wafers in working on Applied Materials' competing product. Prior to Corr Cronin's involvement in the case, Lam obtained a preliminary injunction preventing the employee from working in the position for which he was hired. On appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Corr Cronin succeeded not only in getting the preliminary injunction dissolved, but also in getting Lam's entire complaint dismissed with prejudice.
