Seattle, WA – June 28, 2023 – Corr Cronin is pleased to announce that veteran trial lawyer Jeff Coopersmith has joined the firm as a partner. Well known for defending and trying high-profile cases (most recently, representing Sunny Balwani at trial in charges stemming from the DOJ’s Theranos investigation), Jeff’s nationally-recognized trial practice is an ideal fit for Corr Cronin’s high-stakes trial platform.

Jeff is listed in Chambers USA Band 1 for White Collar Criminal Defense in Washington. The Chambers USA 2023 Guide describes Jeff as follows: “Jeff is absolutely top of class. He is hard-working, smart, and dedicated.” Like Jeff, Corr Cronin is itself Chambers-ranked, and has been for twenty years. At Corr Cronin, Jeff joins Chambers-ranked lawyers Steve Fogg (Band 1, Commercial Litigation) and Emily Harris (Band 4, Commercial Litigation).

Jeff is in the midst of a storied career as a trial lawyer. After a stint at Covington & Burling in Washington, DC, Jeff moved to Seattle to serve as a federal prosecutor, where he specialized in bringing complex fraud cases. As the office-wide Coordinator for Corporate and Securities Fraud, Jeff successfully led the prosecution of 12 defendants in one of the largest securities fraud cases in Washington state history as well as many other complex white-collar cases. The United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington recognized Jeff’s achievements when he presented Jeff with the inaugural Thomas C. Wales Award.

Since 2005, Jeff has been a partner at the Seattle office of three major national law firms: Orrick, Davis Wright Tremaine, and DLA Piper. Jeff has handled some of the most high-profile work in the country, including, among others, subprime mortgage cases arising from the 2008 financial crisis, stock options backdating cases, criminal antitrust matters from the DOJ’s investigation of the auto parts industry, and criminal and civil False Claims Act cases from the government’s focus on alleged fraud by health care institutions and defense contractors.

“Over the years, I have been in many a trench with Jeff, and I now look forward to having him down the hall, helping Corr Cronin serve the needs of our clients,” said Steve Fogg, Partner at Corr Cronin. “His exceptional trial skills and indefatigable dedication to his clients have earned him a spot for many years on the short list of lawyers that clients call immediately when serious trouble surfaces. I look forward to collaborating with Jeff as a partner on the firm’s array of interesting and challenging litigation.”

“I am excited to become part of Corr Cronin’s highly skilled team of trial lawyers,” said Jeff. “The firm’s exceptional reputation for providing top-notch legal representation, coupled with their entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering dedication to client service, is truly remarkable. I look forward to providing the same level of service for my clients with the flexibility and focus on practical solutions that Corr Cronin provides.”

The addition of Jeff to Corr Cronin further solidifies the firm’s position as a leading litigation law firm in the Pacific Northwest. With a diverse team of talented attorneys, Corr Cronin is renowned for its exceptional trial advocacy skills, creative no problem-solving abilities, and resolute commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for its clients.
