Kristen Barnhart’s practice focuses on all aspects of high-value civil litigation in Washington state and federal courts. Recently selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers® Magazine, her diverse practice areas include business litigation, construction defect, premises liability, products liability, tort claims, environmental litigation, and insurance law. Kristen has a proven track record of strategically leveraging litigation and alternative dispute resolution techniques to resolve complex, multi-party cases for her clients. Kristen’s clients appreciate her attentiveness, ability to clarify complicated and nuanced legal issues, and her detailed valuations and risk exposure analyses.

Throughout her career, Kristen has obtained defense verdicts absolving her clients of liability, secured victory through summary judgment, appropriately apportioned liability to third parties, and facilitated early resolutions through negotiations and mediation. She is particularly skilled at navigating contract law, negligence, and Independent Duty Doctrine claims. In addition to being a talented oral advocate, Kristen honed her legal writing skills as a judicial extern for the Honorable N. Randy Smith at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

When she is not working on client matters, Kristen enjoys volunteering for the King County Neighborhood Legal Clinic and spending time outdoors on Whidbey Island.
