Lucio Maldonado receives Latina/o Bar Association of Washington’s 2024 New Lawyer Award

Corr Cronin attorney Lucio Maldonado has been honored by the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington with its 2024 New Lawyer Award. LBAW’s mission is to “expand justice for the Latina/o Community in Washington State and beyond.” The association does so by participating in judicial evaluations, holding clinics, granting scholarships, and facilitating other services. Its members also benefit from networking with other members of the Latina/o community.

Lucio’s biography shared in the LBAW’s Annual Gala program, and reprinted here, gives more insight into his work within both the Latina/o community and the broader legal community:

Lucio Maldonado grew up working on his family’s apple, cherry, and pear farm in Eastern Washington. He credits his work ethic largely to that experience. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Washington State University, Lucio graduated with magna cum laude honors from Gonzaga University School of Law. He served as a Judicial Extern for Judge Timothy Fennessy of Spokane County Superior Court, and then clerked for the Honorable Steven González of the Washington Supreme Court. In 2021, when Justice González was elected by his peers to the role of Chief Justice – becoming the first Chief Justice of color in state history – González tapped Lucio to be his presenter at the swearing-in ceremony.

Now a trial attorney at Corr Cronin, Lucio’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and appellate law. He works with individuals, small local businesses, and Fortune 500 companies alike, and takes pride in producing excellent work that clearly and forcefully supports his clients’ objectives. In turn, Super Lawyers has recognized Lucio as a Rising Star each year since 2022. Also in 2022, he was featured in Puget Sound Business Journal’s inaugural Next Gen In Law feature. In 2023, he was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America as One to Watch in Commercial Litigation – an accolade he earned again in 2024, along with being recognized in two additional practice areas: Appellate Practice and Mass Tort Litigation / Class Actions – Defendants.

Lucio is actively engaged in pro bono work, sitting on the board of the Joint Minority Mentorship Program, and regularly attending events which provide mentorship to first-generation law students.
